In many cases, the images are created with a parent very close by, just out of frame. Sometimes a composite image is used, where the baby and dog are photographed separately and carefully brought together in editing. This ensures everyone stays relaxed and safe at all times.

Keeping the Session Calm and Stress Free

Newborn sessions work best when they are calm and unhurried, and that applies to dogs too.

I always recommend bringing your dog in at the beginning or end of the session, depending on their temperament. This keeps the experience short and positive for them. A quick walk beforehand can help burn off nervous energy, and having treats on hand always helps.

Because my studio has a relaxed, quiet atmosphere, most dogs settle surprisingly well. I take things slowly and follow their lead.

Neutral tones, soft textures, and natural poses allow the connection to shine without overwhelming the image. The focus stays on your baby and the relationship they are already forming with your dog.
