Pregnancy is such a beautiful, powerful time — and it goes by so quickly. One minute you're choosing baby names, and the next you're holding them in your arms. Capturing this journey through maternity photos is something so many parents tell me they’re glad they did — but one of the biggest questions I get is:
Here’s everything you need to know to help you plan your session at just the right time.
The best time for a maternity photoshoot is typically between 28 and 34 weeks into your pregnancy. During this window, your bump is beautifully round and defined, but you’re still likely to feel comfortable enough to move around and enjoy the session.
Some mums-to-be feel ready a little earlier, especially if they’re expecting multiples or have a smaller frame. That’s totally fine — every pregnancy is different, and I always recommend booking based on how you feel.
Yes, absolutely! I’ve done gorgeous maternity sessions as late as 37 or even 38 weeks. If you’re feeling good and baby’s staying put, we can still capture beautiful images. But I always recommend booking earlier if possible — it gives us more flexibility and helps you feel relaxed knowing it’s all taken care of.
It’s never too late to celebrate your pregnancy. If you’re past 34 weeks and still want photos, please get in touch. We’ll chat and see what’s possible — even if it’s a shorter, simple session to honour your bump before baby arrives.
If you’re thinking about maternity photos, the best time to book is usually between 20 and 25 weeks, to make sure I’ve got space around your ideal date.
Maternity sessions in my studio (or on location if the weather’s right!) are calm, relaxed, and all about celebrating you — your strength, your softness, and this beautiful moment in your life.
I’d love to photograph this chapter of your story. If you’re expecting and want to know more, just pop me a message — we’ll find the perfect time for you and plan a session you’ll love. 💛
